FIFTH TIME DEFECTIVE:

No heating/cooling (some fan). Only operation light blinking constantly, not economy.

FOURTH TIME DEFECTIVE: UPPER FLOOR UNIT TROUBLE AGAIN (SUMMER 2018)

28 December 2018: At night was hot, got up and tried. Exactly as in Jan 2018. After a gap of 30 minutes it came on. Not good.

THIRD TIME DEFECTIVE: UPPER FLOOR UNIT TROUBLE AGAIN (SUMMER 2017)

1 January 2018: This time the AC units come on and start working for half a minute. Then the unit stops and operation light keeps blinking slowly. This is happening to all ACs that are connected to the multi unit.

Could not locate the defect.

SECOND TIME DEFECTIVE: UPPER FLOOR UNIT TROUBLE (SUMMER 2017)

13 November 2017: Not starting. Blinking. 7 times operation light followed by 6 times timer light.

This has happened in the past and the AC came back on its own in a few hours. Switched off power to the AC from the circuitboard and restarted. No luck.

Reported on 14 November to Victorian office: (03) 9543-5899 (Nicki). Technical team analysed the blinking lights and said the issue was a two way valve sensor/ three way valve sensor. Technician booked to arrive on 17 November Friday at 10 am.

17 November: Manny came from Fujitsu. The error message did not come when he arrived. The AC was working fine. But I explained the issue and my exasperation with the problem. He examined the external unit and found two sensors loose. He repaired them to ensure the error doesn’t happen again.

FIRST TIME DEFECTIVE: MULTI UNIT DEFECT (SUMMER 2016)

Model no. ASTG07LVCA (sl. E006905) multi unit with outdoor AOTG24LA5T3 (sl. TOO7107)

CHRONOLOGY

Problem detected – 19 October 2016

Contact with Fujitsu – 21 October 2016

Send technician – 3 November 2016

Called them on: 7 November 2016 – Nicki said someone would call me back. No one did.

Called again on: 10 November 2016 – Jessica said the part is expected end-November. I asked whether the entire box could be replaced. She checked and called back that doing so would go into next year. She is still trying to get the part from somewhere earlier than end-Nov. if possible. She gave me her email ID.

ISSUE

Sudden drop off ability to heat (from Wednesday 19 October 2016).  Identified that there are flashing lights.

Operation light blinks 9 times then Timer blinks 4 times and recycles.

Called 1300 882 201. Reached NSW office. Transferred to Technical support. Tech support asked main power to be turned off for 10 minutes and switched on again. He then transferred to Victoria service office which went to voice mail. Pointless waste of time.

After starting power again, the flashing lights went off but the heating is not working (outside temperature 21 degrees but was trying 30 degrees: nothing happened; just some little bit of air; outside unit fan came on sporadically but switched off on its own).

Called the 1300 number again, this time went to Victoria office. Service coordinator not at work today, have to call tomorrow.

===RESEARCH==

OPERATION LIGHT IS CONTINUOUSLY BLINKING.

Manual says:

When the room temperature is very low, frost may form on the outside unit, and its performance may be reduced. In order to remove such frost, the unit will automatically enter the defrost cycle from time to time. During Automatic Defrosting operation, the OPERATION Indicator Lamp will flash, and the heat operation will be interrupted [Source]

This means the OPERATION light should stop blinking very soon. But that’s not happening.

I notice now that OPERATION is flashing 9 times and TIMER 4 times. And the ECONOMY is flashing continuously.

Does that mean something?

Potential answer

From the fault code description with a flashing economy light (also green) then I guess this is a newer model with standardised fault codes. Model for outdoot would be AOTG… The G is the important part here to signify I am on the right track and the model is the newer generation.

This code is discharge temperature error – meaning outdoor PCB has determined that discharge probe has gone over 110*C twice in 24hrs.

Commonly caused by low refrigerant charge but there can be other causes.

Of course a model number would confim my detective work here.

Here is a PDF that contains codes.  [Copy on my server]

How to use iTag >> app iTracing2 is needed >> very limited utility

This is what it looks like:

itag-photo

I’ve bought from ebay so it doesn’t have “iTag” image on it – probably a cheap copy.

HOW TO OPERATE

1. Install the iTracing app (here) on the mobile phone. [NOTE: iTracing is REALLY BAD – keeps disconnecting and therefore “screaming”. I understand that iTracing2 is better source]

2. Turn on the iTag by holding the button for three seconds, when it beeps twice the iTag is activated.

3. Turn on the bluetooth on the phone.

4. Open the iTracing app

5. iTag device will appear in the device list.

6. Connect by selecting “Connect” (I had to use “search” in order for iTracing to identify the iTag. My key is called MLE-15.

7. Turn on location on iTracing (it is the third button on the bottom of the app). Once the map appears press the button on the iTag once and the map will zoom in to your current location on the map. Press the button on the iTag again to save the location on your “locate list”.

8. Attach it to the set of keys (or to anything you want to track).

Problem with the iTracing

It randomly goes into the “alert” mode by itself, creating a nuisance. Very annoying – keeps setting off an alarm on its own, each time it tries to “connect”. Looks like it looses connection very quickly, and on its own.

Need to reduce volume immediately, since the app doesn’t immediately switch off alarm on pressing the red bar.

OTHER PROBLEMS: AUTO switch off

See this.

TO FIND KEYS

Click “Alert” on iTracing.

TO FIND PHONE

Press button on iTag for around 2-3 seconds.
