Get rid of birthdays on Google calendar

Annoying Google, has managed to insert all birthdays of people on my google+ list.

1.Go to left hand side column of google calendar
2. under my calendars select birthdays
3. frm drop down menu remove the view (I can't find the precise words since I removed it and it's gone)

That will get rid of the nuisance.
