Google authenticator not working – issue was simple – about time zone

I had travelled across the world and used Google Authenticator quite regularly during the journey. All was well.

Upon returning to Melbourne, the authenticator stopped working. I thought the relevant website had got spoilt so I asked them to check their system.

Turns out their system was fine. It was I who needed to sync my google authenticator to my local time.

How to do it?

  1. Go to the dot dots on the right
  2. Go to settings
  3. click “time correction for codes”
  4. click “sync now”

All done. The codes will start working now.
